Kono was born and raised in Hawaii and grew up with surfing. Ian Adams has recruited her for a job at the CEO of Coral Prince Surfing. her surfing career ended when she injures her knee during a tournament that ensures that she could no longer compete as profesional surfer. She studies at the Honolulu Police Academy and graduated as police woman. Kono becomes member of Five-0 and decides to follow the footsteps of her cousin Chin Ho Kelly who's detective and Lieutenant. Kono establishes herself quickly as female rookie and is loyal to her team. Kono started with martial arts on very young age and is trained in the use of weapons.

Kono is skilled in variety of areas as member of Hawaii 5-0.

Observational Skills - Kono possesses great observational skills although she is not so honed as the more seasoned members.
Technologically Adept - Kono is exceptionally skilled at using any technology.

Hand to Hand Combat - Kono is quite capable to defend herself and is exceptionally skilled in hand to hand combat. She's trained in martial arts and her most practiced style is Karate.
